Dental Treatment Camp for Calicut Jail Inmates Held
The Department of Public Health Dentistry- KMCT Dental College conducted a free dental treatment camp on Tuesday at District Prison, Calicut. The camp was organized as part of KMCT Dental College’s World Oral Health Day celebration. The camp was intended for assessing the dental health of the prisoners.
Almost 130 prisoners were screened at the camp. Nearly 43 inmates were given treatments free of charge. Medicines were also given to needy without charge. An awareness class on Oral health care was also given by Dr. Dhanya Muralidharan [Reader and HoD- Dept of PHD, KMCT Dental College].
The camp was led by Dr. Dhanya Muralidharan[ Reader and HoD- Dept of PHD, KMCT Dental College] and Dr. Arun Paul [Senior Lecturer- Dept of PHD, KMCT Dental College] along with postgraduate students and interns.
Earlier the formal inauguration of the program was done by Sri. U.V. George [District Collector, Calicut]. Dr. Manoj Kumar K.P. [Principal – KMCT Dental College] welcomed the gathering. Sri. K. Anil Kumar [Superintendent- District Prison] delivered the presidential address. Veteran doctor and KMCT Group chairman- Dr K Moidu – was the guest of honour at the function.
Dr. Ayisha Nasreen [Director- KMCT Group of institutions], Dr. Finbi Baby (Vice Principal-KMCT Ayurveda College], and Dr. Arun Paul [Senior Lecturer – Dept of PHD, KMCT Dental College] also spoke. Dr Dhanya Muralidharan [Reader and HoD- Dept of PHD, KMCT Dental College] proposed vote of thanks. Dental College students and staff were also present.
