Oral Health Programme for Calicut Jail Inmates Organized
The Department of Public Health Dentistry- KMCT Dental College conducted a special Oral health programme on Wednesday at District Prison, Calicut [ 28, July]. The programme was organized as part of KMCT Dental College’s National Oral Hygiene Day celebration.
Almost 30 inmates were given treatments free of charge. Medicines were also given to needy without charge. Dental treatments such as extractions, oral prophylaxis, restorations etc. were performed for 30 inmates of District Jail, Kozhikode, using the Mobile Dental Van and Mobile dental units at the District Jail, Kozhikode following all COVID-19 protocols and measures.
Oral hygiene awareness sessions were conducted for each inmate individually following appropriate social distancing. Dr Manoj Kumar K.P., handed over the 184 Oral Hygiene Kits to to Sri. A.K. Suresh.
The Programme was led by Dr. Dhanya Muralidharan[ Reader and HoD- Dept of PHD, KMCT Dental College] and Dr. Arun Paul [Senior Lecturer- Dept of PHD, KMCT Dental College] along with postgraduate students and interns.
Earlier the formal inauguration of the program was done by Sri.A.K. Suresh[District Jail, Deputy Superintendent]. Dr Manoj Kumar KP [Principal – KMCT Dental College] delivered the presidential address.
Dr Dhanya Muralidharan[ (H.O.D- Public Health Dentistry- KMCT Dental College), Dr Pebeetha Fathima Ghouse (Medical officer, District Jail, Kozhikode), Mr Rajesh Kumar T [Jail welfare officer] and Dr Arun Paul, Asst. Professor – Public Health Dentistry- KMCT Dental College] were present on the occasion.
